Course Description
In this course we will explore the complex time of adolescence and the roles of parents. Inspired by the work of Kim John Payne, Carrie offers a unique look into balancing the will, the feeling life, and the development of thinking. The course will highlight the impact of stress on family life and lay out a developmental map for understanding adolescence. It will incorporate tips and tools for relating to and guiding your adolescent as well as powerful simplification methods and nervous system regulation strategies. Topics will likely be:
- Understanding Stress on Family Life and Adolescence
- Parental Emotional Self-Regulation and Family Co-Regulation
- Developmental Map of Adolescence
- Parental Roles and Shifts in Perspective
- Using the 4 Pillars to Simplify and De-stress
- Specific focus on the role of Screens and Pro-Connection
- Tips and Tools for ages 10-14
- Tips and Tools for ages 15-19
Instructor’s Biography:
Carrie Thomas Scott is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in private practice for over 20 years. She has taught numerous workshops on topics including ethics with heart, adult education/ parenting, developmental theory and emotional self-regulation. Carrie is certified as a Hakomi Therapist, a Right Use of Power Facilitator, and a Simplicity Parenting Family Life and Discipline & Guidance Coach. She lives with her husband and too many animals to name at Trinity School (a Waldorf inspired school, grades 1-8) in Bellevue, Idaho.
