Jamie York’s Making Math Meaningful™ Curriculum grew from teaching notes into a book series, teacher workshops, and an online Academy over the course of several decades.

Our parents and participants have generously shared their thoughts with us, directly and on Google Reviews. We invite you to see how well our programs and resources have helped them, and look forward to helping you too!

“Jamie’s project to create a hub for parents and students seeking quality education, yet maintaining a flexible schedule and curriculum that home education offers, wonderfully met my son’s needs in 2020.

He was not too fond of online schooling structure in general, however, with Jamie York Academy’s Live Lectures, dynamic bi-weekly Group Work meetings and weekly Tutoring sessions, Jacob was able, not only to make academic progress, but also found a supportive, wonderful community and circle of friends, making meaningful, lasting memories during his four adventurous years with the Academy. (7 years total, working with the JY books during middle school years, homescholing with me, and 4 years in a new online format with Jamie and other teachers).”

“I listened to the podcast [with Jamie] this morning and thought it was really great. I was reminded all over again about why we have chosen JYMA for our kids.

I love Jamie’s philosophy on education in general and it was really interesting to hear how he came to Waldorf in the first place. I’ve shared the podcast with my homeschool FB community and I always tell anyone who will listen how much we love and recommend JYMA [Jamie York Math Academy]. I think you should definitely continue to do interviews/podcasts.

Jamie truly is a math/education missionary and is very good at sharing his message.

Have a great weekend!”

“My family discovered and joined your incredible math program this year and we are so greatful to be part of it. I love how much my children are thinking about math and I am so impressed with the depth of their understanding of the concepts introduced. Thank you so much for this gift.”

“We found Jamie and JYA (Math, Sciences, and Humanities) when our daughter was entering grade 10 of homeschool and we were failing to meet her needs, particularly with math.

She was very satisfied with the math main lessons and curriculum from the beginning and we were relieved her academic needs and hunger for learning were being satiated. She went on to take a science course as well as a couple of the humanities courses and they have been a foundational part of her high school experience.

We are immensely grateful to have such a wonderful compliment to our self designed courses and trust Jamie and all of the teachers are not only helping prepare our daughter for college but for all of life. So very grateful.”

“My daughter started the year as a reluctant math student, and she is ending the year with math as her favorite subject! So much of that is because she truly adores Mr. York! His enthusiasm, curiosity, and calm, steady energy have been the biggest blessing in our home this year. Our math work group has also been amazing. Her math progress over the past year is astounding. But, she has learned something else that is even more important – she can do AND enjoy hard things. We are so grateful for JYMA!”

“I have used the Jamie York math curriculum for grades 1-8 for 13 years. As a Waldorf teacher, it has both guided and inspired my teaching with just the right amount of framework, yet leaving room for my own creativity to bring the lessons alive with experiences.

I have found the Making Math Meaningful curriculum to do just that. Mathematics becomes meaningful without the use of rote drill or blind procedure. The students learn in a developmentally appropriate way promoting mathematical fluency and flexibility.

When Covid-19 hit the US and schools closed campuses, I turned to the Jamie York Math Academy for my students. The two lectures per week became the fodder for follow-up group work – a highlight for the students! We gathered in breakout rooms on Zoom and solved complex puzzles and word problems. The students also had individual weekly math assignments. It was such a success that we will continue with the Math Academy this upcoming school year knowing that there is still uncertainty.

“Excellent online Waldorf maths programme catering for grades 5 -12. We have been enrolled for two years and the progress has been exceptional. Very supportive guidance with a blend of recorded lessons, live session group work, and expert tutoring. Excellent curriculum, materials and superb teaching. Very highly recommended.”
