Graduation Weekend, HS Adventure Camp, and Alumni Reunion

Dates: Arrive on May 29 and depart on June 2, 2026 (3 days, 4 nights)

Location: Paonia, Colorado

Description:

While the highlight of this event will be the graduation ceremony of our 12th graders (on May 31), students in 10th grade and above are encouraged to come to Colorado in order to meet friends, share meals together, and enjoy three days of fun activities in the Colorado mountains. Families are welcome to join, or students may instead come on their own.

Note: Students who have yet to complete 10th grade may be interested in joining our Middle School Adventure Camp. Families are certainly welcome to bring older and younger siblings.

Alumni
This event is also open to our JYA alumni, giving them a chance to reconnect with high school classmates.

Schedule of Activities:
  • Friday, May 29th:  Arrival (unless you are already in Paonia for the in-person astronomy week, which is May 23-29).
  • Saturday, May 30:  Rock climbing with a local guide company ($90/person)
  • Sunday, May 31:  River rafting ($80/person), followed by the Graduation Ceremony
  • Monday, June 1:  Hiking (free)

Accommodations:

Participants will have the option of camping on Jamie’s property (for a small fee), staying in a short-term rental, or at a local hotel. If you are planning on camping, please bring your own camping equipment (although Jamie does have a limited amount of equipment to lend, per request).

Meals:

We are planning to have shared meals with all of the participants during the event. There is a meal plan option with a cost of $120 per person for the whole weekend. This will cover breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a catered graduation dinner.

Transportation:

Getting to Paonia: Paonia is a 5-hour drive from Denver, on the western side of Colorado. The closest airport is Montrose Regional Airport, which is one hour away from Paonia. If you would like us to pick you up from the Montrose Airport on May 29, please arrive between noon and 4pm, and plan on departing on the morning of June 1. The airport pick up will be $25 each way.
