Course Description

“Modern Society” is a course that looks at the complex issues facing our world today. We will explore the political, social, and economic forces that impact life everywhere on the planet. A deep dive into various governmental and economic systems will help students make better sense of our interdependent life on Earth.

The central questions of this course will be:

• How has the world evolved and what needs to happen to ensure a healthy future?

• What are the greatest problems that this generation is facing, and will face in the future?

• What can we do to improve the lives of the people in our world?

• How can we best take care of our planet?

• How do I develop the skills and confidence to go forth in the world and work out of my highest ideals?

One of the highlights of this course is that the students will be placed into teams for a formal debate.
