Times for Live Sessions: Monday through Thursday and every Friday there will be
groupwork. Starting at 9:30am MT. Please note that all times are given in Mountain Time
(MT), which is two hours behind ET, and one hour ahead of PT. Each live session lasts between 50 and 70 minutes.
Course Description
Anatomy and physiology is the study of the internal and external organs of the body, their functions and physical relationships. The human body can be divided into two main regions, axial and appendicular and both parts are covered. The axial part consists of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, and pelvis whereas the appendicular part consists of the upper and lower extremities. During the first weeks the focus is on the thorax and abdomen and all the digestive and digestion supporting organs in there will be explored and discussed. Each organ gets comprehensive descriptions and detailed drawings. Also common diseases of several organs are discussed and how to live a healthy lifestyle. The blood circulation, respiration from humans and other organisms and the anatomy of the heart will from a major component of these weeks. Other organs and their functions are part of this course and also how some of the homeostatic processes are managed will be covered. The upper extremities include the shoulders, upper arms, forearms, wrists, and hands whereas the lower extremities include the hips, thighs, lower legs, ankles, and feet will be part of this course. By doing many exercises and experiments the extremities are explored and explained. In the last days blood groups, antigens and the function of antibodies will be covered.
