Middle School Adventure Camp
Dates: Arrive on July 12 and depart on July 17, 2026.
Location: Paonia CO
Description: Although this in-person experience is intended for those students in grades 5-9, families are certainly welcome to bring older and younger siblings. This is a great opportunity to meet your friends in-person, share meals together, and enjoy fun activities in the Colorado mountains. Four days of the trip will involve some activity – rock climbing (with guides), river rafting (with guides), and hiking.
All students need to be with families, or with an adult chaperone. We encourage you to connect with others in the Academy who you would like to be with.
Note: Our High School Adventure Camp is intended for students who have completed 10th grade, and older.
Activities:
Rock climbing with a local guide company ($90/person)
Rafting with a local guide company ($80/person)
Hiking (Free)
Accommodations:
Participants will have the option of camping, staying in a short term rental (such as Airbnb) or at a local hotel.
Camping during the week will be at Big B’s Orchards in Paonia. We will have access to the campgrounds, where you can tent for $29 per person for the 5 nights. We do have a few tents to lend, but you should try to bring your own. There are also a few glamping tents (with a queen-sized bed and floor space for a couple of sleeping bags) for $70 per night – but you’ll need to let us ASAP if you want to reserve one.
If you are planning to find your own accommodations, we recommend that you do as soon as possible.
Meals:
We are planning to have shared meals with all of the participants during the camp. There is a meal plan option with a cost of $30 per person each day that will cover breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The breakfast will be oatmeal with toppings, tea and coffee. Lunch will be a DIY bagged sandwich with fruit and granola bars, all to take with you on your activities. Dinner is the main meal of the day with different options each evening.
Transportation:
Getting to Paonia: Paonia is a 5-hour drive from Denver, on the western side of Colorado. Those flying should arrive at Montrose Regional Airport, which is around 1 hour away from Paonia. If you would like us to pick you up from the Montrose Airport on July 12th, please arrive between noon and 4pm, and depart on the morning of July 17th. The airport pick up will be $25 one way, or $50 round trip.
Local transportation: Camp participants can bring their own cars or share the cost of a rental. We are planning to rent a van or larger car depending on the number of people who would like to share a vehicle. The cost for the rental is yet to be determined.
Deposit:
If you are planning to join the trip, please submit an initial deposit of $100 dollars using the link below to secure your position. For the total cost, we will invoice you at the end of the camp.
